Recent Cedar Elm Collection
Collection procedures started last year. It was hiding a few miles from my house. I got overeager and picked it out a week ago. Fingers crossed and lots of protection...
After recovery, this one is in for lots of carving. Depending on growth, I plan to make it a cascade.
I have discovered recently that I'm middle aged and haven't done the stuff I thought I would when I was a teenager. My priorities have changed. I still have some lingering twinges to do the impossible, but I'm not ashamed of how practicality has taken over. I am an artist in my heart, but I don't always care for what shows up on my canvases. I find great joy in finding crude, scrubby trees and slowly turning them into works of art (bonsai). I can go from digging in the dirt to collect a tree to a dinner for one of my relatives. I am an only child held captive by a man who is one of seven siblings! I married into a huge family and it has changed my life in ways that still surprise me.
